Thermoplastic Elastomers

Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), are a class of copolymers with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties. TPEs are used extensively in medical catheters and other applications for their unique blend of strength, elasticity, and flexibility. The TPE pyramid outlines the most common elastomer families which include:

  • TPU – Thermoplastic Urethane
  • PEBA polyether block amide elastomer (Nylon)
  • TPO- Thermoplastic Olefin Blends
  • TPV- Thermoplastic Alloys
  • TPR- Thermoplastic Rubber
  • TPE-ET – Thermoplastic Copolyester
