Multi-Lumen Extrusion

Multi-lumen extrusions vary the size, number, symmetry, and position of lumens or holes within a tube. The lumens provide working channels for a wide range of functions, including:

  • Drug Delivery
  • Insertion
  • Guidance
  • Sampling
  • Suction
  • Inflation
  • Energy Delivery
  • Monitoring
  • Biopsies

Typical multi-lumen configurations include:

  • Single Lumen. The most common of all extrusions, a single lumen tube consists of a single channel that can vary in size, shape, material, and dimension. Biomerics offers a full range of ID/OD configurations ranging from 0.001 up to diameters as large as 1.00″.
  • Dual and Triple Lumen. We supply a wide range of dual and triple lumen extrusions in straight and bump configurations. This includes standard profiles such as double D, Y, double bore, bi-lumen, circle in a circle, and tri-lumen. Common applications include dialysis catheters, PICCs, CVC, ports, fluid management, air lines, drug delivery, cooling lines, and protectors.
  • Steerable or Guidance Extrusions. Multi-lumen tubes ranging up to 15 lumens are used to build steerable or guidable catheters. The lumens can be used for guide wires, balloon inflation, electrical wire channels, ablation, and drug delivery. Common applications include cardiac rhythm management, venous access, endoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, and angioplasty.

All extrusions are manufactured in our ISO 13485 registered facility under quality systems developed to be compliant with the FDA’s Medical Device System Regulations 21 CFR Part 820.
